My
Sincerest Thanks...
Anyone that has a site like this and
tells you that they did everything is lying. The media
business is always best when its collaborative, and my
career has been no exception. I did serve as Creative
Director for everything here - and I wrote and/or edited
over 85% of what you see. But there’s always a lot more
going on than meets the eye...
First of all, the voices. My go-to guy for the last several
years has been Matt Wright. He’s rep’ed at
DBA
by Chris Gesue. Matt rocks
- as more and more networks are finding out -and couldn’t
be any better to work with. Matt can also be found running
his own audio production company, Sound
Advice.
The incomparable Don LaFontaine voiced many of my favorite
spots, and was always there for me when I needed to make a
splash at a new station. Don is gone now, but I will
forever be indebted to him for what he did for me and for
just making himself available to someone at the local
level. For much more about Don, click
here.
Sandy Thomas kicks off the home page and is always great to
work with. I was lucky enough to be the first person to
feature Sandy on television, and his career has since
exploded.
Sandy can be reached here.
Larry Van
Nuys (i.e.
- the voice of God) is a terrific human being and my
partner with the Paramount Stations Group for many years.
Larry voiced the Divorce Court spot in the WGNT section.
Its one of my favorites, and really showcases Larry - and a
pretty goofy way to promote a court show.
Back in the days when TV stations actually spent money on
their on-air product, if I needed music, I always got great
stuff from Randy Wachtler and 615
Music in
Nashville. Much of what Randy did for me is showcased here
and is a great reason why much of it worked so well on the
air.
Many thanks go out to my good friend John Sherlock. John
has been running his own production house in Raleigh for
over a decade and is the absolute best at putting a shoot
together and delivering the goods. John is also an
accomplished
voiceover artist himself. John and his DP of choice,
Alton
Chewning,
are responsible for all of the film you see within.
The aforementioned Divorce Court spot - along with several
more in the WGNT area - was produced by Chris Johnson.
Chris is certainly the only Star Trek/Star Wars/Wrestling
fan I know who has a Master’s in Theology and is currently
working on a documentary about the Mormon church. Oh, and
he isn’t Mormon...
Melissa Pace edited that terrific ‘Is it Hot in Here’ Miami
Heat spot that even after 10 years STILL doesn’t get old.
There was a period in 1997 when the group I was working
with was really firing on all cylinders - and we were
nominated for more creative Emmys that any other station in
our region. Quite a feat given our competition in Miami,
and Melissa is a major reason why. Melissa is now running
the campus media operation at Montgomery
College in
Rockville, MD. I recently had the chance to meet Melissa’s
very talented group there, and the level of production they
are doing there is truly amazing.
I could go on and on, but let me finish by thanking the
folks that have given me so many opportunities - Tony
Cassara and Ray Rajewski at the late, but oh-so-great
Paramount Stations Group; Meg LaVigne, my once boss and
current business partner; the smartest TV guy on the planet
- Jonathan Katz; and all of my former co-workers and
current clients in Pittsburgh. I may not be there in
person, but all of you will remain in my heart.
